Women in Digital (WID) and the Anita Borg Institute both share a unified vision of empowering women in the digital and technology sectors. With the shared goal of promoting gender diversity and inclusion within the tech industry in Bangladesh, we are excited to propose a collaborative Tech Bootcamp.

1. Introduction:
This program aims to bridge the gender gap in technology and provide opportunities for women to excel in this field.

We believe that by partnering with the USA Embassy, we can amplify the impact of this year-long program. Together, we can extend our reach to both rural and urban areas of Bangladesh, ensuring that women from all backgrounds have access to valuable educational resources and networking opportunities in the tech sector.

Over the past 11 years, Women in Digital has been dedicatedly working to increase female representation in the tech industry. Our commitment to this cause is unwavering, and we are eager to continue our efforts alongside esteemed partners like the USA Embassy.

We are confident that through this collaborative endeavor, we can make significant strides towards our shared vision of a more inclusive and diverse tech ecosystem in Bangladesh.

2. Objectives:
The Women in Digital and Anita Borg Institute Collaborative Tech Bootcamp aims to:
Provide women in Bangladesh with comprehensive technical training in high-demand tech domains.
Foster a supportive community that empowers women to excel in the tech industry.
Bridge the gender gap in the technology sector and create a more inclusive tech workforce in Bangladesh.

3. Target Audience:
The boot camp will cater to women in Bangladesh who have an interest in technology and digital fields. Participants may come from diverse backgrounds, ranging from students to working professionals seeking to enhance their technical skills and advance their careers. We are targeting to reach around 200 women through this Bootcamp and we have specified two groups of target audience we want to reach out to.
Target Group 1 is the rural young girls (Age Group 14-18) and
Target Group 2 is the University goers and young professionals (Age Group 18-25).
Target Group 3 consists of random professionals who have an interest in technology (ages 20 to 40).

4. Justification:
Combating Child Marriage in Rural Areas: Bangladesh is the 3rd ranking country in the South Asia region in terms of Child Marriage. Including 14-18 years old girls in this Bootcamp is crucial due to the high child marriage rate in Bangladesh. By empowering these young girls with web development skills, we aim to break barriers, ensuring they have the opportunity to be self-sufficient and financially independent. Equipping them with tech expertise can provide a path to better prospects, encouraging them to pursue rewarding careers and contribute positively to their families and communities, irrespective of the challenges posed by child marriage rates.

Accelerated Skill Development: The tech industry is evolving rapidly, and there is a growing demand for skilled professionals. The 2-week Bootcamp offers an accelerated and focused learning experience, allowing women in Bangladesh to acquire foundational skills in key tech domains quickly. This intensive program will equip them with the knowledge and confidence needed to explore further opportunities in the tech sector.

Promoting Gender Diversity in Tech: Women remain underrepresented in the tech industry globally, including Bangladesh. This Bootcamp aims to address this gender gap by providing women with access to quality tech education and training. By encouraging more women to participate in the Bootcamp, we can take a significant step towards fostering gender diversity in Bangladesh's tech workforce.

Empowering Women in Digital Skills: The Bootcamp's curriculum covers a broad range of tech disciplines, including web and mobile development, data science, and cybersecurity. These skills are highly relevant in today's digital-centric world and can empower women to pursue diverse and rewarding career paths in the tech industry.

Creating a Supportive Tech Community: The Bootcamp fosters a supportive learning environment where women can connect, collaborate, and network with like-minded individuals. This sense of community will enable participants to build valuable professional relationships and receive ongoing support throughout their tech journeys.

Increased Employability: By equipping women with foundational tech skills, the Bootcamp enhances their employability prospects in the tech job market. Employers value candidates with diverse skill sets, and participants will be better positioned to pursue tech-related career opportunities in various industries.

Encouraging Tech Entrepreneurship: The Bootcamp not only prepares participants for employment but also nurtures their entrepreneurial spirit. Armed with web development, data science, and cybersecurity skills, participants can explore the possibilities of starting their tech ventures, contributing to the growth of the local tech ecosystem.

Addressing the Digital Skills Gap: Bangladesh, like many other countries, faces a shortage of skilled tech professionals. The Bootcamp aims to bridge this skills gap by empowering more women to join the tech workforce. This will positively impact the country's digital infrastructure and support its digital transformation journey.

Empowering Women's Independence: Tech skills offer women a unique opportunity for financial independence and empowerment. By gaining proficiency in web and mobile development, data science, and cybersecurity, participants can potentially work remotely, create online businesses, or pursue freelance opportunities, providing them with economic autonomy.

Inspiring the Next Generation: The Bootcamp's impact extends beyond its immediate participants. By showcasing the success and achievements of women who undergo this tech training, we can inspire and encourage young girls and aspiring women to pursue careers in technology and overcome traditional gender barriers.

In conclusion, the Women in Digital and Anita Borg Institute Collaborative year long Tech Bootcamp is essential for women in Bangladesh to access quality tech education, develop in-demand skills, and contribute to a more inclusive and diverse tech industry. The program's accelerated format, comprehensive curriculum, and emphasis on empowerment make it a transformative opportunity for women to thrive in the digital age and positively shape Bangladesh's technology landscape.
